We opened in a corner unit that had been empty for two years, between the health centre and the newsagent, on the stretch of Belsize Road where South Hampstead becomes Kilburn.
Most mornings the same forty people come through: nurses finishing nights, parents after the school run at George Eliot, builders from the site on Abbey Road, and a handful of writers who have made the long counter their office.
We know a lot of their orders. The club exists so we can stop taking their money every morning and get on with making the coffee.
Short reads on what is in your cup and the street it is made on.
