Our coffee: illy, made properly

One 100% Arabica blend from Trieste, roasted to taste the same every time. It is the coffee in every espresso, cappuccino and flat white we pour.

Proudly serving illy

Crafted with illy

We serve illy: one blend of 100 percent Arabica, roasted to taste the same in the cup every morning of the year. It is the reason a cappuccino here in October tastes like the one you had in April.

Around it we make the rest of what a neighbourhood actually drinks. Karak and Kashmiri chai, masala with oat milk, ceremonial matcha hot or iced, eight loose teas, and a cold board for when the walk up from Kilburn Park has been warm.

Good coffee, good food, good company. That is the whole idea, and it has not needed changing.

Method

Four things we do not skip

None of it is showmanship. It is the shortest route to a very good coffee, made the same way every time.

  1. 01

    Calibrated twice a day

Once when we open and once after the morning rush, against a scale and a timer. The numbers go on the board behind the bar so anyone can see them.

  2. 02

    Ground to order

The grinder holds no more than a few minutes of coffee. Anything that sits for longer goes in the staff pot rather than in your cup.

  3. 03

    Milk steamed once

Never re-steamed, never topped up from an earlier jug. It costs us a little more in waste and it is the single biggest difference you can taste.

  4. 04

Served at the size it should be

A cappuccino is six ounces. A flat white is a double ristretto and a thin layer of milk. If you want something larger we will make it, and tell you what changes.

Drink it often enough and it should cost less
